

This is a quick and easy version of this classic family favourite.
Serves 4

| 150 | g | vegetables (e.g. carrots, leek, celeriac, onions, garlic) | chop very finely |
| 60 | g | pearl barley | add |
| 40 40 |

cooked ham or cooking bacon smoked ham or smoked cooking bacon |
cut into very small pieces |
| 1 | l | stock | add to the pan and boil until all ingredients are soft and tender |
| before serving, taste again and add salt & pepper as preferred |
Barley is a particularly rich source of vitamins from the B group and minerals.
